Personal protective equipment – Footwear protecting against risks in foundries and welding – Part 2: Requirements and test methods for protection against risks in welding and allied processes

Footwear certified to the EN ISO 20349 standard is intended for use by welders to protect against heat, open flames and molten metal splashes.
The standard serves to complement the protection requirements specified in EN ISO 20345 and sets the following additional requirements for safety footwear used during welding operations;

⦁ Design;
⦁ Low shoes are not approved. Only Design B protective boots or higher are approved
⦁ There must be no risk of molten metal getting stuck in fastenings or seams

⦁ Protects against molten metal splashes

⦁ Safety footwear for welding operations has flame resistant properties

Safety footwear that meets the minimum requirements of the EN ISO 20349-2 standard is labelled WG and is marked with the following pictogram;
