Protective clothing for users of hand-held
Protective clothing certified according to EN ISO 11393 gives the wearer protection against cuts from hand-held chainsaws. Part 2 of the standard refers to leg protection and defines requirements for both design, ergonomic and material performance.
Standarden defines three types of chainsaw leg protectors;
⦁ Design A and B; chainsaw trouser (A) and -chaps (B) with the chainsaw protection placed on the leg front and sides. The design is adapted to fit both left and right handed users, or one of these.
These types of chainsaw protectors are primarily intended to be worn by well trained professionals.
⦁ Design C; chainsaw trouser with protection encircling the legs. The design is adapted for both right and left handed users.
This type of chainsaw protectors are primarily intended to be worn by persons who do not normally work with chainsaws or in extraordinary situations
The chainsaw leg protectors are divided into three safety classes, based on the speed of the chain. Class 3 protects against the highest speed and is also the highest class.
— class 1: 20 m/s ± 0,2 m/s
— class 2: 24 m/s ± 0,2 m/s
— class 3: 28 m/s ± 0,2 m/s
