Protective clothing for use in welding and allied processes

Protective clothing certified according to EN ISO 11611 gives the wearer protection against small splashes of molten metal and short-term contact with flame.  Garments certified according to this standard are suitable for users who weld or perform similar work.
EN ISO 11611- protective clothing can consist of several separate garments, or a single garment with one or more layers.

The garment is classified according to its ability to protect against risks associated with different types of welding technology.
The standard is divided into two classes:

Class 1 – Protects against less hazardous welding techniques and situations, causing lower levels of splashes and radiant heat.
Class 2 – Protects against more hazardous welding techniques and situations, causing higher levels of splashes and radiant heat.

Basic requirements for all EN ISO 11611-certified garments are limited flame spread which is either tested with only surface ignition (A1) or with both surface ignition and edge ignition (A2

In addition to material properties, design requirements are also set for the finished garment in order to avoid, for example, welding fleas and metal splashes getting stuck on the garment and causing burns.
Garments that fulfills the requirement within EN ISO 11611 are marked with below pictogram.
